Werder Bremen Striker Hugo Almeida On Real Madrid Radar - Goal.com India

Real Madrid have set their sights on signing Werder Bremen striker Hugo Almeida, according to a report in Bild newspaper.

Los Blancos are looking for another attacking option after the injury to Gonzago Higuain, which will see him on the sidelines for a long period.

The 26-year-old, though, has revealed he has had no contact with the club, but would welcome a move to Spain and work with Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho.

"I still have not had any contact with them," Almeida said. "But it would be a dream to play for Real Madrid.

"For me, this is the biggest club in the world with the best coach and best players."

Both Porto and Sporting Lisbon have been linked with the striker, as well as Italian sides Lazio and Juventus.

Werder Bremen currently sit mid-table on 18 points, 19 points behind league-leaders Borussia Dortmund.
